CIRCUS WORKSHOPS

Circus workshops are great fun, good exercise, develop confidence, coordination, teamwork and problem solving.
Pete is an inspiring teacher who makes learning both challenging and fun.
Lessons are structured so each circus skill is broken down into its component parts.
Workshop formats can be flexible to suit individual school needs.
Pete can provide an Assembly Performance - Introducing circus skills to the children so they are already learning before their circus workshop.
SPINNING PLATES - HOW TO SPIN A PLATE
Balancing a plate on a stick is visually stimulating and great fun for nursery age up. Once the basic technique is learnt children can create their own tricks. Great for individual and group work.
PEACOCK FEATHERS - HOW TO BALANCE AN OBJECT
A great way to introduce pupils to the principles of balance and develop their fine motor skills. The beautiful feathers move slowly enabling the pupils to adjust and move with them, using the eye of the feather as a visual cue as they learn to balance on their finger, foot or nose.
DIABOLO - HOW TO USE A DIABOLO
Diabolos are brilliant for Year 3 and above. Once you can get the diabolo spinning it can be thrown, caught and manipulated in as many ways as you can imagine, pupils can really get the 'bug' and be inspired to learn some fantastic tricks.
JUGGLING SCARVES - HOW TO JUGGLE SCARVES
Scarves are brilliant for learning to juggle, they float down slowly and give you time to think about what is happening.
Great for encouraging pupils to make up their own tricks and for partner and group work.
JUGGLING BALLS - HOW TO JUGGLE BALLS
Beanbags are used rather than balls as they are easier for children to catch and learn 1 - 3 ball juggling, culminating in the classic 3 ball juggling pattern.
HOOPS - HOW TO SPIN A HOOP
Hooping is great fun, good exercise and helps develop basic movement skills. The hoops used are heavier and larger than children's toy hoops. The weight of the hoop helps it "stick" to the waist as it rotates round the body. The larger the diameter the slower the hoop rotates, helping to keep it spinning for longer.
